Our Mission and Vision

Our Mission

Our mission is to support teens and young adults coping with the impact of unexpected life events that throw life out of balance. We strive to be a valuable resource for those seeking mental health assistance as well as foster a community for anyone wanting to support the cause.

“When you are struggling with the impact of unexpected life events, there’s nothing worse than feeling alone. Our goal is to be a source of connection and hope.”

Susaina Jain, Ph.D.

Why it Matters

The Powerful Project exists because far too many individuals are working hard just to get by, even as they deal with the impact of traumatic events or lifelong trauma. They “fall between the cracks of the system”, and don’t qualify for government funds and programs. If they are lucky enough to have health insurance, it rarely covers the kinds of services needed.

What we Do

The Powerful Project does not simply match applicants to clinicians. We ascertain what services would best benefit each individual. We spend time to get to know applicants so we can have an in-depth understanding of their needs, their strengths, their resources, and hopes. Then in partnership, we identify the resources that will best help them get off to a good start. This is unique to each beneficiary. It may start out with an extracurricular activity for a student, help with home reorganization, stocking the refrigerator, nutrition education, online coaching, locating respite services, and/or counseling.
